The FERIC Wildland Fire Operations Research Group travelled to Fort Providence, Northwest Territories (June 14 - 26) to work at the Community Fire Protection Treatment and Demonstration Trials (formerly the International Crown Fire Modelling Experiment). FERIC is using the trials site to conduct research on five projects. The site is valuable for research because high intensity fires can be used to test equipment and forest fuel treatments. This year, FERIC's objective was to organize and prepare for future burns, and the poor burning conditions allowed only debris piles to be burned. Descriptions of individual project work done at the site will follow.
